Join us on an exciting journey to grow and deliver Macquarie’s pipeline of renewable energy projects in Australia. Macquarie’s Green Investment Group is developing a portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy projects in Australia and is looking for a Commercial Procurement Lead to lead and manage.
Based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, you will have a hands-on and flexible approach to achievement of shared targets and be primarily responsible for delivery of projects from inception onwards. Key responsibilities and activities include:
- Responsibility for the optimal procurement approach for renewable projects including construction, operations & maintenance and asset management
- Commercial support to the Project Develoeprs in assisting with project tendering processes for construction and operations partners
- Negotiation and agreement of all commercial and legal elements (including management of third-party legal advisers) for project construction and operations contracts with project OEMs, contractors and network service providers
- Ongoing engagement and market interface with OEMs, construction partners and other project stakeholders relating to project execution
- Responsible for establishing and documenting a contractual risk position framework and ensuring risk position is consistent across all procurement
- Responsible for gathering market intel and ensuring contractual positions are in line with market and project contracts and final risk position remains bankable
- Capable of managing multiple contractual processes simultaneously
- Must have experience in multi contract procurement and management of interfaces in project procurement and execution strategy
- Review and input into all key project documents and contracts as may be required for different projects, including landholder agreements, connection agreements, PPAs, and other associated contracts with suppliers engaged for project development activities as required by the development team
As Commercial Procurement Lead, your responsibilities will involve interfacing with other commercial and technical project team members to ensure that the project development is successfully procured and delivered. You will be involved in delivering commercial management and administration of projects during the planning, development and construction phases. In addition, you will provide commercial input and recommendations on procurement strategy for the relevant packages to identify, tender and select equipment suppliers, service providers, EPC (Engineering Procurement and Construction) and O&M (Operations and Maintenance) contractors for our projects. You will prepare and draft contract and commercial documents and manage any relevant service providers, such as external legal counsel and insurance brokers.
To succeed in this role, you will have at least ten years’ experience in the energy sector with direct experience in the negotiation and agreement of key project contracts and commercial agreements for NEM connected Australian renewable energy projects
You will hold a relevant professional qualification and direct experience with a project developer, utility, construction contractor or related field performing contract management roles for renewable energy projects. A key aspect to our success is a strong focus on workplace, health, safety and environment, as well as the ability to work in a diverse and inclusive business environment.
Last but not least, you will have good interpersonal and communication skills with unquestioned ethics and integrity, and be able to demonstrate stakeholder management experience, including a confidence and ability to work with a range of project stakeholders including construction contractors, OEMs, state and federal government departments, NSPs and AEMO.
