Join Macquarie’s Commodities and Global Market’s Legal team as a lawyer with corporate/securities experience to support our business in Canada.
The role offers the successful applicant the opportunity to experience a diverse and broad range of legal and regulatory projects, initiatives, and transactions as part of a small legal team. In this role, you will provide dedicated legal support for our Commodities and Global Markets Group with a focus on M&A and investment transactions, securities and derivatives regulation, futures, and lending transactions.
This role will give you the unique opportunity to gain a deep knowledge of various revenue generating business groups within financial services. They will rely on your foundational knowledge of corporate/securities law, contract law and document management.
To be successful in this role, you will have 2+ years of relevant experience as a practicing lawyer in Canada. Familiarity in any one or more of M&A transactions, joint ventures, corporate financings, derivatives, futures lending transactions and associated regulations will be helpful. Strong communication skills and attention to detail will aid in your success.
Your day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Working closely with transaction teams executing M&A, principal investment and lending transactions
- Preparing and reviewing documentation
- Leading negotiations with clients
- Managing and liaising with external counsel
- Preparing and updating documentation templates
- Researching local regulations and partaking in regulatory change projects
- Advising deal team and other internal stakeholders, including credit risk and compliance
- Assisting with litigation and regulatory inquiries
