Risk and Controls Manager


Are you an experienced risk manager looking to broaden your career into non-financial risk transformation projects and the uplift of risk and control management frameworks? 

Join our Risk Management Group’s Non-Financial Risk Evolution Program as a Manager. You will be joining a multi-year program to mature and embed non-financial risk management practices that will protect Macquarie and empower our people.  

You may be responsible for a variety of Line 2 risk and control management activities, including: 

  • Supporting the uplift of elements of Macquarie’s Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF), including: 
    • Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process and supporting guidance 
    • Controls, and minimum control standards 
    • Incident and Issue management 
    • Line 1 and Line 2 Assurance 
    • Material Risk Governance. 
  • Coordinating and planning engagement across the Risk Management Lines of Defence 
  • Supporting Line 1 Business Operational Risk Teams identify risks, monitor controls and manage their Risk Profiles aligned to Macquarie’s core services and products
  • Supporting technical teams with the design and implementation of requirements for the Group Governance, Risk and Compliance System  

You will be confident in your understanding of risk and control management, enabling you to identify and propose improvement opportunities which will inform the design of key elements of the ORMF. You will be a lateral thinker and confident communicator, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as having the ability to initiate and lead conversations regarding anticipated and emerging issues. 

In this role, you will be expected to work with global stakeholders and members of the Non-Financial Risk Program to help Macquarie strengthen its risk and control environment. Your strong project management and organisational skills will enable you to support the team to manage key project deliverables, identify dependencies and deliver outcomes to time and quality standards. Attention to detail, the ability to multi-task, present new ideas and work both independently as well as collaboratively within will be essential in this position.

The Risk Management Group (RMG) is an independent, centralised unit responsible for ensuring all risk across Macquarie are appropriately assessed and managed. Its divisions include Behavioural Risk, Compliance, Credit, Financial Crime Risk, Internal Audit, Market Risk, Operational Risk, Regulatory Affairs and Aggregate Risk, and RMG Enterprise Support.
