Associate Director, Private Capital Markets, Macquarie Capital

Tokyo

Do you have a genuine passion for building client relationships, and deep experience in the infrastructure and energy sector? Our Japan team is hiring a seasoned Associate Director to join its Private Capital Markets team.

As Director in Macquarie Capital’s Private Capital Markets team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with investors to support the M&A Advisory and Principal Transaction teams in Japan. You will work on shaping our infrastructure and energy investor coverage strategy and generate new advisory and principal syndication leads through developing strong relationships with investors and understanding their investment mandates. You will focus on direct equity investors who are active in Japan including institutional, financial and strategic investors.

In collaboration with the M&A Advisory team you will host meetings, calls and events with investors, whilst tracking sponsor and deal activity and working with the M&A Advisory team to pitch new advisory opportunities. You will also work closely with the Principal Transaction team to identify potential investment partners or buyers of infrastructure and energy assets developed by Macquarie Capital and help execute transactions across a wide array of infrastructure and energy opportunities in Japan.

We want to hear from you if you have a genuine passion for building client relationships and have experience working in infrastructure and energy. Ideally, you have worked in an investor relations, sponsor coverage, investment fundraising, or a related business development role and are familiar with, or have existing relationships with, infrastructure and energy investors.

Your understanding of the infrastructure and energy sectors, strategic and collaborative approach to work, and strong interpersonal skills will help you thrive in a relationships-focused role to grow Macquarie Capital’s Infrastructure & Energy business. You will combine the knowledge obtained in your undergraduate degree (preferably in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, Engineering or Law) with your previous experience (minimum 8 years) within the infrastructure sector or a commercial bank, investment bank, fund or law firm, to make an impact quickly. Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English and Japanese are critical.
