Commodities & Global Markets is involved in a broad range of sales and trading activities across a diversified range of products including financial and physical commodities (energy, metals, agriculture), futures, foreign exchange, interest rates and equities. Commodities & Global Markets also originate and execute various bespoke financing transactions for clients as well as principal investments.
New York acts as the Americas hub for the Commodities & Global Markets businesses. In addition to New York, Commodities & Global Markets in the Americas operates in several other jurisdictions including Houston, Chicago, and Minneapolis.
The Commodities & Global Markets Futures business has its main office in New York and a single branch office in Chicago.
With the expansion and growth of Macquarie’s futures business in the Americas, we are looking to recruit an experienced business compliance professional to be based in Chicago or New York to help manage the compliance and regulatory risks associated with the highly dynamic regulatory environment that the futures business operates in.
The role reports directly to the Futures Commission Merchant’s Chief Compliance Officer and indirectly to Global Head of Commodities & Global Markets Business Compliance, who is based in New York. While this role primarily focuses on covering the futures business activities in the Americas, you will also be providing compliance and regulatory coverage in various regional and global Compliance objectives and projects impacting Commodities & Global Markets.
Key responsibilities are to:
- Provide day-to-day compliance support to the futures execution and clearing staff in Chicago and New York, including the following:
- Assist with the development of training on relevant regulatory related topics
- Working to provide advice to the business on compliance implications arising from business changes (e.g., New Products) and regulatory change
- Providing advice to the business in response to ad-hoc inquiries related to internal and external obligations
- Performing, and regularly reviewing, compliance monitoring plan assurance activities
- Review, update and implement policies and procedures as required
- Identifying and reporting regulatory risks
- Reporting on key compliance metrics to senior management in Commodities & Global Markets and to Risk Management Group
- Track and assist with responding to regulatory inquiries
- Support opportunities of the wider Commodities & Global Markets America’s Business
- Assist with examinations of the Futures Commission Merchant (both Regulatory and Internal Audit)
- Ad-hoc targeted testing of the Futures Commission Merchant’s policies, procedures, standards, and/or processes to ensure compliance with the relevant CFTC Regulations.
The successful candidate will have:
- Basic knowledge of Futures and Options
- 3+ years of experience as a compliance professional at an exchange, regulator, or Futures Commission Merchant
- Awareness of compliance and regulatory requirements related to the futures markets and/or Futures Commission Merchant
- A pragmatic partnership approach to compliance, with an interest in working closely with the business to identify solutions while achieving the appropriate and desired risk outcome.
- Ability to work independently with a well-development risk mindset.
About the Risk Management Group
The Risk Management Group (RMG) is an independent, centralised unit responsible for ensuring all risk across Macquarie are appropriately assessed and managed. Its divisions include Behavioural Risk, Compliance, Credit, Financial Crime Risk, Internal Audit, Market Risk, Operational Risk, Regulatory Affairs and Aggregate Risk, and RMG Enterprise Support.
Salary range for this position: $80,000 - 160,000/Year. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, peer and market data, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. You may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award.
