Technical Business Analyst - Futures Technology - Sydney


This is an exciting opportunity to join Futures technology team in Sydney.  You will be someone who excels in trading technology analysis, problem solving and effective delivery.

Macquarie’s Futures business primarily focuses on ETDs (Exchange Traded Derivatives) trading & clearing in APAC, European and America regions to service external clients, interbank counterparts and internal trading desks. We rely heavily on both vendor and in-house developed systems to make profitable and sustainable income.

You will be working with execution and clearing business stakeholders to translate business strategy into clear technical requirements, Designing and implementing solutions using agile methodologies and improving DevOps processes and tooling whilst providing support to the business users in Sydney and globally.

The role also involves working closely stakeholders from different groups within Macquarie to evaluate business systems, data, feeds, automation workflows and related user needs in line with the overall business strategy.

  • Work closely with Futures business in Sydney and coordinate with other regions to ensure impact to global platform is accounted for.
  • Understand business workflow, translate them into system design and message flows, depict them in architecture diagrams
  • Interact directly with Traders & Clearing business users to understand issues and find resolution with vendors and inhouse development team
  • Bring together problem statements and new requirements consolidated into a technical project requirements for delivery and implementation by development team.
  • Manage data related projects and work with python, visualisation tools like PowerBI for business reporting.
  • For new initiatives, define project requirements by identifying project milestones, phases and elements; forming project team.
  • Monitor project progress by tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions
  • Work simultaneously on 2-3 initiatives engaging with business, tech and other divisions like Compliance, Operational Risk, Risk Management.
  • Knowledge of AWS Cloud and S3 Data Lakes
  • Good understanding of database schemas, SQL querying, Unix scripts and analyzing order/trade data.
  • Working knowledge of FIX protocol.
  • Knowledge and experience of working in Scrum.
  • Exposure to, and hands-on experience in understanding/implementing regulatory reporting requirements would be beneficial.
