We are growing! To support both business growth and regulatory change the high-profile non-traded market risk team has a range of roles available from analyst to manager level.
The team is responsible for providing independent oversight of market risk across Macquarie’s non-traded portfolios. Most significant is the oversight of interest rate risk in the banking book (“IRRBB”) to meet both the APRA requirements (APS117) and internal risk appetite. This broad perspective gives our team a unique opportunity to see how a bank’s balance sheet actually works.
We support portfolios across Macquarie, including in the investment banking and asset management divisions, which provide a unique perspective beyond the traditional mortgage & deposit balance sheet of a retail bank. The entrepreneurial nature of Macquarie also means these portfolios are always changing and adapting, which brings a lot of interest – and opportunity – to the team’s activities.
To perform this function we have ownership of an end-to-end platform. We cover this with a small, high performing, team that gives everyone exposure to everything from data & analytics, balance sheet modelling, risk methodology & model development and reporting (senior management, ALCO, and APRA). Through this platform we also support our colleagues in the Liquidity & Funding oversight team. Current changes in the regulatory requirements mean the team has a key role to play in designing and delivering a range of exciting new capabilities over the next few years.
A key element of success in this team is relationship building, both with the business teams that we support and with teams that support us (technology, data, other speciality risk areas). This will be supported by your analytical, inquisitive mindset, along with your strong numerical skills.
These roles offer a great opportunity in a high-profile team where you will be able to use your analytical, inquisitive mindset, along with your strong numerical skills to build an exciting career.
We would also love to support parents returning to work, so if you are interested but may need further flexible arrangements, please reach out to our HR team to discuss.
You will bring to this role:
Strong numerical & analytic skills are essential. Successful individuals in these roles tend to have studied Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Actuarial or similar.
For the experienced hires we look for:
- Post-graduate experience in a Financial services domain.
- Prior roles in Treasury, IRRBB / NTMR, or other financial risk areas
- Ability to build relationships across a range of stakeholders
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability
- You need to have a solid understanding of balance sheet concepts
- Your numerical skills should be complemented with excellent verbal and written communication skills
