BFS - Manager, Financial Crime Intelligence - Strategy & Advice


Are you a financial crime risk professional with experience of setting up financial crime strategy, establishing financial crime risk policy, standard or guidance, and providing day-to-day advisory to business around how we can together manage financial crime risk in an effective way, including customer due diligence, AML/CTF, sanctions and anti-bribery and corruption?

Join our Financial Crime Intelligence team, providing day to day Line 1 advisory around financial crime risk management to Macquarie Banking and Financial Services (BFS) business stakeholders and driving a high and consistent level of implementation of legislations and policy requirements.

In this Financial Crime Strategy and Advice manager role, you will be

  • providing day-to-day advisory to BFS business stakeholders on financial crime risk policies, procedures and standards.
  • supporting the senior management team in establishing, maturing, and maintaining the business level financial-crime risk related guidance, standards and procedures to accompany the provision of advice.
  • actively challenging and assessing the effectiveness of business day-to-day operation process in managing financial crime risk.
  • being involved into multiple business initiative discussions to explore new business opportunity however at the same time making sure the financial crime risk is well managed in line with agreed protocols.
  • partnering with key stakeholders across various teams (2nd line Financial Crime Risk compliance, change management team, Product and Technology and Operations) to continuously improve financial crime risk management efficiency and effectiveness.
  • providing training in line with endorsed principles and stakeholder input to support the implementation of policies and procedures, also support internal staff competency / career development program.
  • supporting the senior management team to mature and maintain appropriate reporting for relevant governance committees pertaining to financial crime risk when required.
  • To be successful in this role,
  • You need to have experience in a risk and controls function focused on financial crime risk within a large banking organisation with exposure across multiple retail and business banking products.
  • Financial crime risk advisory experience is preferred. Alternatively, you may have gained similar experience whilst consulting banking clients at a professional services firm.
  • You need to have solid technical knowledge around CDD, AML/CTF, Sanction, AB&C policy and control, with a thorough understanding of Anti-Money Laundering legislation and regulations in Australia, Sanctions and Bribery and Corruption laws/regulations implemented by Australia government and other main countries/international organizations.
  • You need to have exceptional stakeholder management capabilities with demonstrated ability to influence key stakeholders through effective communication and persuasive presentations. You will be motivated to drive business outcomes and maintain a very high standard of performance.
  • You need to have the ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time but still stay organized and willing to go into detail. You are empowered to make independent decisions with the condition that all decisions are assessed in a risk-based approach and with good understanding of the policy requirement.
