Associate Director, Business Manager - Banking & Financial Services

Reporting to the CFO of Banking and Financial Services Group, this is a highly influential role that works in partnership with the Financial Management (“BFS FM”) leaders and stakeholders to assist the leadership team further develop and execute on groups strategy, and its key business priorities.

This is Associate Director role, and is a critical member of the leadership team, you will have a diverse set of responsibilities which include overseeing the team’s strategic, operational and cultural foundations and delivering material change programs. Our division spans Finance, Financial Planning &Analysis, Tax and Balance Sheet Regulatory reporting

Key things you’ll be responsible for include:

Financial & Budget

  • Leading strategic planning, headcount planning, expenditure budgeting and forecasting of business requirements for the function. This includes understanding systems, processes, and procedures to determine areas for improvement and consulting with senior leadership on any significant changes and or/risks that may need to be flagged
  • Build and maintain strong relationship within the business, facilitating discussions with businesses on costs and services
  • Coordinating and drafting relevant reporting requirements on behalf of the CFO


    • People strategy, including:
      • team structure, recruitment, DE&I, junior talent programs (graduate/interns), resourcing support, business resilience
      • Partnering with the HRBP and change leads to support operating model changes and implementation
      • Ensure effective workforce planning with a focus on recruiting, onboarding, professional development, and retention of existing talent, working closely with the leadership team
    • Develop the internal communications strategy to ensure consistency in messaging, utilisation of channels such as Workplace and timely delivery of key people/strategic updates


  • Support the senior management team to develop and document the group’s Strategy, and contribute to implementing and achieving those strategic initiatives
  • Help drive a tech enabled, data centric approach to working across all of teams 
  • Develop clear standards and consistency across all reporting requirements to senior Macquarie management to ensure they drive and achieve the strategic objectives
  • Championing the groups vision, goals, and cultural pillars, promoting a shared commitment to the strategic direction of the business
  • Driving prioritisation and design decision making in an Agile KanBan environment
  • Provide the leadership team with clear visibility of team and leadership priorities and assist in the execution of these

Risk Management

  • Develop an operating model to facilitate close working relationship with BORMs and ensuring relevant reporting to senior management
  • Assist the leadership team to ensure that it has proper processes and systems to manage operational risk

To succeed in this role, you will be commercially focussed, detailed and proactive in nature and demonstrate the ability to execute on strategy. Adaptability and flexibility are a must in this fast-paced business with changing needs. Strong communication (written and verbal) and numeracy skills, analytical thinking and problem solving along with your ability to prioritise workloads is what enables you to effectively manage and deliver results for a diverse group of stakeholders.
