Senior Manager, Data Governance

Are you a Data Manager with experience of leading a high-performing data team and seeking your next opportunity? If so, this is an exciting new opportunity to work with Macquarie’s Risk Management Group’s Data Governance team and support initiatives to uplift the value of data within risk.

As a Senior Manager, you will be responsible for building and managing relationships across the Risk Management Group and leading Data Governance work for data in change initiatives. You will also build and lead the data governance team. Other key responsibilities include:

  • Leading initiatives to implement Macquarie’s Data Governance Framework for critical data elements
  • Managing the backlog of work and prioritisation, to be managed by the team (with teams dispersed across Sydney, Gurugram and Manila)
  • Embedding a continuous improvement mindset within the team to achieve operational efficiency and growth
  • Providing guidance and support as needed to ensure data under governance practices are implemented and tracked to completion
  • Keeping a high level of engagement with stakeholders and ensuring that functions are appropriately run & structured to manage needs
  • Facilitating collaboration among group data offices and business SMEs in driving consistent data governance practices and implementation
  • Partnering with the Enterprise Data Management team and keeping abreast of changes to policies and guidance.

What skills will you use?

As a senior leadership role, you will bring with you post-qualification experience of 10+ years with a minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience leading high-performing data teams, ideally within risk management or financial services. You will also bring with you:

  • A delivery-oriented approach and ability to work with stakeholders to understand their needs and mature their data governance capabilities
  • Ability to influence and support stakeholders at all levels to effectively manage their critical data elements
  • Ability to prioritise effectively across numerous initiatives – whilst your focus will be data in change, you will also work with the broader team to support in implementing the Data Governance Framework across the RMG Divisions
  • Demonstrated competence and passion for people management – a proven track record of building high performing teams, communicating effectively and promoting collaboration
  • A strong risk mindset and ability to make independent risk based decisions
  • Experience with relevant data analysis tools such as SQL, IDQ and metadata tooling e.g. Collibra.

We are looking for a relevant business, quantitative or IT related degree qualification.
