Senior Analyst, Upstream Energy Capital

A unique opportunity for a Senior Analyst to build a career in our highly regarded, global Upstream Energy Capital business.

You will be joining a small and highly specialised sector team making and managing principal credit, derivative and equity investments in a demanding and dynamic phase of the global energy transition. As the successful candidate, you will have a strong interest in the energy industry and financial markets.

Our Upstream Energy capital business has a global remit and an active deal flow. You will have the opportunity to work on a strong pipeline of transactions covering both equity and debt across the energy spectrum of:

  1. Energy transition investment (CCUS and hydrogen)
  2. Critical energy infrastructure structured asset finance; and
  3. Upstream LNG / oil-gas reserve backed project and acquisition finance

This is an integral role working very closely with senior members of the Singapore team, including technical specialists. Successfully mastering this role will provide you with substantial career development opportunities within Macquarie. Key responsibilities will cover:

  • Evaluating structured lending and equity investment opportunities, sector research, client marketing and proposals
  • Building investment financial models, financial analysis, structuring solutions and providing recommendations
  • Documentation review and preparation, information memorandum and finance documentation, due diligence work streams, credit applications and internal support functions interface
  • Integral role in investment execution and in financial management of an existing portfolio of debt and equity transactions including regular Client management liaison

You will have a minimum 2-3 years’ work experience and a degree or master’s degree in finance, commerce, engineering or similar with a high academic achievement record. Ideally you will already have experience in the energy or natural resources sector, working in project finance, M&A, equity investment or financial analysis. Core competencies for the role include:

  • Strong team player, commercially focused and able to take initiative
  • Comfortable with a complex demanding multi projects environment
  • Proficient research, numerical, analytical, financial valuation and modelling skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal capabilities
