Data Insights Analyst

Join our innovative and collaborative Digital Transformation and Data team and deliver data driven insights and data solutions.

As a Data Insights Analyst, you’ll work in agile multifunctional teams on projects across the entire Macquarie Group. Your role will be to apply your broad skill set across data and analytics to understand business problems, create insights and envisage practical solutions to help Macquarie gain more value from its data.

You will have access to large data sets, giving you the ability to make a tangible impact with your analysis. In return, you will be given support to expand your technical and domain skills.

In addition, you will be responsible for:

  • Communicating and influencing stakeholders
  • Translating business questions to data and analysis requirements; carry out analysis, visualization and presentation.
  • Performing ad-hoc analysis to solve business problems and support decisions.
  • Run human centred design sessions with end-users.
  • Coaching non-data experts how to use data.
  • Design and build data products, such as Power BI dashboards, including defining the data models.
  • Collaborating with and providing requirements to Data Engineers to streamline data sources to ensure consistency in the data used to support regular and ad hoc reporting and analysis.

To be successful in this role you will have some of the following skills/background and experience:

  • 2+ years' experience in a hands-on role interpreting and telling stories with data
  • curious and business outcome focused with an ability to break down a complex problem and work out how to solve it
  • evidence of numerical and technical aptitude strong collaboration skills having worked with business stakeholders at different levels of seniority
  • comfortable working across a wide range of data sets and systems
  • commercial exposure in a corporate, consultancy or start-up environment

Experience that is preferable, but that we are willing to train if missing:

  • expertise in cleansing, combining and processing data
  • have knowledge of SQL , with knowledge of Python being an advantage
  • familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g. Microstrategy, PowerBI, Tableau, Quicksight, Qlik) and data manipulation tools (e.g. Alteryx and Dataiku)
