Liquidity & Capital Management Analyst - recent graduate / entry level to senior analyst - Commodities and Global Markets


We currently have two unique opportunities for recent graduates through to senior analysts who are looking to join a dynamic, high calibre team within Macquarie’s Commodities and Global Markets, specifically with our Sydney based Capital and Liquidity Management Team! 

These unique roles will support your career through ongoing professional development, and learning opportunities in a fast paced environment and provide a growth challenge with immediate exposure to the Capital Markets sales and trading environment as well as green energy transition exposure.

They will open you to interactions with many different teams and senior colleagues across the global business franchise, risk teams, and many others as you become the Capital and liquidity go-to in assisting our stakeholders.  The team reports to the CGM Chief Financial Officer and works closely with Group Treasury, providing data-driven insights to support key decisions that have a real impact on the way we manage CGM’s capital and liquidity positions for both the short and long term.

You will  be provided with ownership of the work you produce from start to finish; data and analysis, reporting, slides and insights and opportunities to present this to our stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • own the regular CGM Group wide deliverables for our global business COO’s to understand and optimise their Liquidity and Regulatory Capital footprint.
  • preparing and presenting funding and liquidity positions including assistance with forecasting and budgeting
  • support our business in responding to their questions and ad-hoc queries.
  • develop relationships with our various businesses and stakeholders as you become a key go-to for CGM.
  • analysis and reporting of Capital and Funding usage to senior management to assist with real-time decisions.
  • learn to use and help drive automation as we adopt Business Intelligence tools such as PowerBI.
  • understand, and communicate the regulatory standards as set out by APRA.
  • working with Group Treasury and other key stakeholders to support the compliance of regulatory liquidity reporting obligations
  • assist the team and business to adapt to Regulatory change.
  • contribute to our team’s value-add and what we bring to CGM, that is to provide accurate and insightful analysis, and sound advice.

To be successful you will have:

  • recently graduated with degree in Business / Finance / Engineering / Science or other numerical/analytical discipline related discipline
  • at least 1-3 years’ experience with a curious mindset for the banking industry and a passion for markets
  • an independent problem-solver with a can-do attitude.
  • excellent communication skills both written and verbal, initiative and a commercial approach
  • a high level of attention to detail and an ability to manage a range of tasks through to completion
  • numerical and analytical strengths
  • proficient with Excel (e.g. large datasets, pivots, filters, formatting).
