This is an exciting new opportunity to assist in building Macquarie’s Risk Management Group’s big data platform and drive initiatives to uplift the value of data within the Risk team.
As an Associate Vice President, you will be responsible for driving initiatives to onboard new data sets onto the Cloudera/AWS based big data platform, documenting both business and functional requirements for data use cases, designing technical solutions to meet data use cases, working with software engineers to develop technical solutions as part of an agile SDLC model, supporting non-technical stakeholders with retrieving and analysing data results using a wide variety of data tools such as Alteryx, Impala, Excel, Power BI, Jupyter, Python, SQL and defining robust data governance processes and controls for data on the big data platform.
We are looking for prior education in Engineering, Maths, Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, Economics and/or any other relevant quantitative discipline. This includes a minimum Bachelor’s degree qualification with strong academic performance.
To be successful in this role, you will have post-qualification experience of 8-10 years with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience working with data and various backend systems for risk management or financial services. You will be passionate about the potential application of cloud based big data technologies and hold an inquisitive mindset with a genuine desire to understand and solve problems.

The Risk Management Group (RMG) is an independent, centralised unit responsible for ensuring all risk across Macquarie are appropriately assessed and managed. Its divisions include Behavioural Risk, Compliance, Credit, Financial Crime Risk, Internal Audit, Market Risk, Operational Risk, Regulatory Affairs and Aggregate Risk, and RMG Enterprise Support.
