Insights Analyst, Credit Risk


Join our Credit Risk team, the independent risk management team of Banking and Financial Services, and enjoy playing a key role in the full lifecycle of credit risk management across our home loans product.

You will join a team that has responsibility across our retail mortgages, including residential mortgages to individuals and small businesses. The team that you will join works in collaboration with the Personal Banking ecosystem, including product, sales, operations and technology to optimise business opportunities within acceptable risk parameters. Our Banking and Financial Services Credit Risk team also maintains close working ties with our central risk management group, relating to the development of risk acceptance criteria and risk governance. 

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Understanding risk data and systems and how they relate to the credit risk lifecycle
  • Enhancing and maintaining a suite of existing reporting produced within the Credit Risk team, including identifying initiatives to improve automation, managing data quality and updating technical documentation and user guides
  • Identifying and investigating trends and insights from internal data to understand and inform stakeholders of our risk profile
  • Researching and drawing insights from external information sources such as the Reserve Bank of Australia, Australian Bureau of Statistics and our regulators (ASIC, APRA) for internal dissemination
  • Contributing to projects to develop strategic initiatives across the credit risk lifecycle
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders, including internal data teams and the centralised risk management group.

To be successful, you will be degree qualified in a STEM discipline i.e. Computer Science, Engineering, Maths, Statistics, Economics or another quantitative discipline. You will also need:

  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a risk-based role, preferably in the financial services sector
  • Experience with data analysis and visualisation tools such as SQL/Hive, Alteryx, Tableau, R Markdown and so on.
  • Experience with at least one scripting language i.e. R, SAS, SQL, VBA or Python
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and be flexible, and the ability to work individually as well within a team
