Back End Engineer


As a back end engineer, you’ll help the team plan, design and implement responsive solutions and scalable applications into the Cloud. Utilising your problem-solving skills, you’ll participate in technical discussions and help solve interesting and technical problems. In addition, you’ll help drive innovation and work with our awesome teams! 

In this role you will help identify and implement solutions to keep our highly successful Cloud platform running smoothly and reliably. You will maintain cloud systems capacity and performance, optimise existing systems, build infrastructure and eliminate work through automation. You’ll bring your hands-on cloud experience to partner with our application teams to solve technical issues and show how cloud products can make businesses more productive, collaborative, and innovative. 

To be successful in this role, your technical skills will include:

  • software development and debugging skills in any 2 languages such as GoLang, Ruby, Java, C, C++, .NET
  • experience with any databases such as SQL and DynamoDB
  • ability to debug in a distributed environment
  • experience in scripting routine tasks.

Additional experience in any of the following will be highly regarded:

  • Python, Shell, Perl, Javascript
  • interest in designing, analysing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
  • AWS cloud experience.

This role, within the Corporate Operations Group (COG) infrastructure Cloud Team, involves working closely with a diverse range of teams across the Macquarie group.  You will make moving to the Cloud easier by making improvements to the product, tools, processes and documentation. You are obsessed with helping the customer and simplify the challenges they face.
