Financial Crime Risk Assurance Analyst


Within RMG, the Financial Crime Risk (FCR) Assurance team assess the design and effectiveness of controls that mitigate financial crime risks across Macquarie Group. The FCR Assurance team act as an independent second line of defense in Macquarie’s risk management framework and report into the FCR Central Office and ultimately the Global Head of FCR. Through thematic, regular and ad-hoc assurance reviews, FCR Assurance specialists review critical controls within financial crime risk frameworks, with the aim of providing assurance to senior management and AML officers that Macquarie businesses are meeting financial crime regulatory obligations and associated internal policies and procedures.

We are seeking a Financial Crime Risk Assurance Analyst with knowledge of financial crime risks and assurance or audit methodologies to join our team. You will work with senior FCR professionals and business stakeholders to actively review and challenge the robustness of critical FCR controls. You will work in a solution orientated environment to provide effective and pragmatic FCR services that promote positive risk outcomes.

In this role your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting assurance and testing reviews of Macquarie’s Financial Crime Risk Program (AML/CTF, Sanctions and Anti-Bribery & Corruption) both within Australia and globally;
  • Communicating the findings and related remedial actions to stakeholders and senior management;
  • Documenting issues and actions and escalating significant FCR risk;
  • Identifying efficiencies and driving initiatives to achieve greater FCR and business performance.

To be successful, you will have a proven track record in the understanding of assurance methodologies plus knowledge (or aptitude to quickly learn) about financial crime risks and regulations within financial services. 

You will also:

  • hold relevant qualifications in either Law, Commerce or a similar discipline;
  • have experience in risk management frameworks, assurance and/or audit type functions;
  • hold experience of financial crime compliance gained within a financial services institution;
  • demonstrate an ability to work independently, manage deadlines whilst maintaining a high degree of accuracy and quality;
  • display sound judgement and commercial acumen in order to manage effective risk outcomes with a variety of stakeholders across the Group;
  • have strong communication and interpersonal abilities, including sound written and verbal skills;
  • bring a high level of energy and commitment to the team.
