Head of Secure By Design

Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney

We are looking for an experienced Cybersecurity leader to drive a transformation of our security architecture, design and assessment functions to enable Macquarie to deliver our business solutions securely in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

You will lead a global team of security architects and consultants, with a focus on shifting left and strong customer engagement.

As a high performer, you will have a proven track record of delivery, with a keen sense of business priorities and strong people leadership skills.

As the global lead of Secure By Design you will be accountable for the security architecture, consulting and assessment functions. You will lead, coach and develop direct reports in the development of a fully accountable customer focused work culture which is delivering high standards of performance and continuous improvement.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • line management for each of the business aligned teams.
  • drive transformation that will further embed a shift left methodology for both Secure by Design and the business. 
  • provide technical governance on existing and new solutions to ensure successful delivery of agreed project scope and outcomes within risk appetite, support the delivery of the Cybersecurity Strategy, and provide thought leadership across security, business and technology needs
  • strong focus on enabling secure delivery of digital innovations under a cloud-first strategy.
  • a role model for our values of Integrity, Accountability, and Opportunity.

Ideally you will bring:

  • at least five years’ experience in leading a security architecture team with a proven track record of supporting business delivery in a secure manner
  • thrive on change and show creative thinking and initiative: an ability to translate innovative ideas and best practices into successful delivery, with a proven track record of success in execution and meeting impactful goals and objectives
  • good communication skills and interpersonal abilities
  • someone that sees challenges as opportunities and understands customer-obsession
  • familiarity with, and a proponent for Agile, Lean, and AppSec/DevSecOps practices
  • experience in Cybersecurity concepts such as risk management, security architecture, threat management, security governance and compliance.
  • deep understanding of regulatory frameworks, common information security frameworks and industry frameworks (e.g. CPS234, NYDFS, PCI-DSS, NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, OWASP, ISO27001, CIS, COBIT, OWASP, SANS 25).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related area and complimented by industry qualifications or relevant postgraduate degrees will be advantageous.
