Corporate Writer

Corporate Writer, Macquarie Banking & Financial Services Group

Location: Toronto, ON

The Macquarie Banking & Financial Services Group (BFS) is creating a team of the most respected professionals in the industry as it strives towards its goal of becoming one of the leading providers of financial products, services and advice to Canadians.  To support its growth in North America, Macquarie is seeking a results-driven individual to assume the position of Corporate Writer.

Reporting directly to the Head of Marketing Communications North America for BFS, the successful candidate will work with the marketing department to develop content for a wide variety of materials.

Key Responsibilities:

Ø  Write effective, persuasive and compelling content for a wide variety of materials -  press releases, email broadcasts, product brochures, websites, promotional materials, speeches and PowerPoint presentations, legal documentation, etc.;

Ø  Comprehend and distil financial terminology and concepts into concise, easy to understand copy for product brochures, web content and similar;

Ø  Proofread and edit marketing materials and related, including peer editing;

Ø  Manage multiple writing assignments at any given time while meeting tight deadlines in an efficient and cost-effective way;

Ø  Ensure consistency and excellence in all written materials, and adhere to branding, corporate communications policy and legal/compliance guidelines;

Ø  Work effectively with other members of the creative team as well as key stakeholders such as the investment advisors, sales, marketing and business unit heads;

Ø  Remain abreast of latest trends in communications, societal and market motivations, and investigate new ways to use both traditional and emerging technology trends;

Ø  From time-to-time, conduct market research to review, analyse and interpret industry information for the development of thought leadership materials such as ghost written articles, executive summaries, etc.

Ideally you will possess:

Ø  Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate communications/writing, both creative and technical, within the financial services sector; 

Ø  Working knowledge of wealth management, investment products, banking and related terminology, and the ability to quickly comprehend technical concepts;

Ø  University degree or equivalent in English, Journalism, Communications or related;

Ø  Ability to work with other creative resources such as graphic designers, web content developers and related;

Ø  Superior communication skills, particularly written, with a meticulous attention to detail;

Ø  Solid analytical and problem solving abilities, with a creative flair and willingness to contribute ideas to improve marketing materials;

Ø  Demonstrated ability to work within brand and legal/compliance guidelines;

Ø  Excellent time management and organizational skills with flexibility in work approach, and ability to effectively manage competing priorities and timelines;

Ø  Strong work ethic, self-starting nature and high energy;

Ø  Very motivated and goal-oriented professional who thrives in a challenging, fast-paced, results-driven work environment;

Ø  Proficient using technology and relevant software applications;

Ø  English and French bilingualism would be an asset, as would completion of the Canadian Securities Course.
