Senior Vice President Credit Risk Management, Banking Financial Services Group, North America

Macquarie's Business & Financial Services Group is building its team of the most respected professionals in the industry as it strives towards its goal of becoming the leading provider of financial products and services Canadians.  To support its growth, Macquarie's North American Banking & Financial Services Group is seeking a results-driven leader to assume the position of Senior Vice President Credit Risk Management.

The Senior Vice President Credit Risk Management will be responsible for managing all aspects of retail, commercial and corporate credit risk administration. This includes providing direction on credit policies and procedures, overseeing credit underwriting, ensuring that all new loans meet the credit quality standards of the Bank, and collaboratively directing risk mitigation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction on credit policies and procedures, oversee credit underwriting, and managing overall asset quality to ensure all loans meet the credit quality standards of the bank;
  • Serve as the front line resource to executive, line or staff management on all lending matters;
  • Provide leadership and direction to the underwriting teams, including training and performance management;
  • Ensure that credit policies and procedures are adhered to;
  • Identify areas for process improvement, cost reduction and increased profitability;
  • Provide comprehensive portfolio monitoring and reporting including the participation in Credit Committee meetings;
  • Identification of system or software improvements and being pivotal in implementation, documentation and training of those changes.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A university degree in relevant major (Business Administration, Economics, Commerce), a graduate level degree would be a decided asset;
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressively more responsible experience in corporate, commercial and retail credit risk management and related;
  • At least 5 years experience in a leadership role guiding and developing high performance teams; 
  • Previous lending authorizations of significant size and responsibility;
  • Highly developed analytical abilities combined with strong abstract reasoning skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to form lasting relationships with diverse and multiple stakeholders within an organization and externally;
  • Superior communication skills: verbal, written and presentation;
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to effectively persuade and influence on key policies and decisions;
  • Excellent time management skills and flexibility in work approach;
  • Thrives in a challenging, fast paced, results driven work environment.
