Development & Release Support Analyst, Macquarie Securities - Sydney
The Macquarie Securities Group encompasses Macquarie's Institutional and corporate stock broking, equity derivatives and equity finance capabilities. It utilises its skills in research and risk management to originate equity-based financial solutions and products and services for client, globally. Macquarie Securities Group (MSG) was formed in April 2008 from the merger of the Equity Markets Group and Macquarie Capital Securities.

The Macquarie Securities IT division operates as a core part of the business and considered to be part of the front line. The division is co-located with the business in a fast paced and changing environment. We are currently looking for a motivated Development & Release Support Analyst based in Sydney to provide key IT services to the Macquarie Securities business globally.
Working closely with the both development and production teams, you will be involved in the configuration and maintainenance of multiple test and production environments. You will be responsible for the successful deployment and maintenance of J2EE components and applications on the test platforms and the rollout of these systems to production. You will work closely with senior stakeholders in the MSG technology team and have a high level of autonomy and responsibility for the management of environments. More specifically you will be:
Managing and maintaining test environments and coordinating and planning releases into the environments
Working closely with development and production support teams to migrate applications from test into production
Developing and configuring tools to assist and streamline configuration and change management
Building and configuring tools to mitigate risk and provide auditable, repeatable and robust release processes
Assisting the environments manager in capacity & environment planning to support multiple development deliveries
Facilitating tools and processes for effective communication and cooperation among various IT teams within the MSG division
Providing regular reporting to senior management
Ideally you will have:
Solid experience in application development with demonstrated experience with UNIX (Solaris) operating systems and scripting (Perl/Shell/AWK)
Familiarity with Jboss or equivalent application server administration
Experience with Message Oriented Middleware (Preferably Websphere MQ, JMS)
Good understanding of database technologies (ideally Sybase, SQL, Stored Procedures)
Good knowledge of Java and object oriented software development. Experience with Agile methodologies would be well regarded
Experience with application integration and middleware technologies in a SOA architecture would be valued.
Experience with deployments of secure web applications, DMZ and firewalls would be valued.
Excellent communication skills and sound problem solving skills
Strong people engagement skills
A mature approach and the ability to assume responsibility for projects and tasks
Tertiary qualifications in computer science or equivalent would be well regarded but not essential
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast paced environment
