Background

The Technology Division of the Corporate Operations Group (COG) is responsible for:

  • Managing Macquarie Group’s technology infrastructure
  • Supporting, maintaining, and enhancing existing business systems
  • Delivering new systems, technologies, and services
  • Providing technology leadership to Macquarie Group

The COG Technology Finance team provides technology services to the Financial Management Group (FMG). FMG delivers finance, tax, and treasury services to all of Macquarie globally. They provide strategic analysis and advice to Macquarie's business and senior management, manage Macquarie's funding, liquidity and capital position, and ensure Macquarie continues to meet regulatory and compliance obligations.

Within the COG Technology Finance team there is an opportunity for an experienced Integration Developer under the integration and data migration streams of the General Ledger (GL) Transformation program being undertaken. Integration and Data Migration are viewed as critical components of technology support of the GL replacement program

The drivers of this program include addressing operational risk and business transformation. FMG is in the process of selecting a new GL platform and will then undertake a multi-year program to implement the solution. This role will report directly to the Business Program Director who has overall accountability for the success of the program and a focus on driving business transformation and effective business change management.

Macquarie operates a single GL that is used across FMG for management reports, financial statements, regulatory returns, tax returns, and acts as a key control dataset for other FMG services such as liquidity management. The GL is accessed globally by 800 users across 70 jurisdictions, posts 60 million journal lines per month, generates 9 thousand management reports per month, and there are 350 daily incoming and outgoing interfaces with Macquarie’s business units.

Role Purpose:

Design, deliver and support the integration components for the GL transformation program, including:

  • Data conversion and reconciliation
  • Inbound data interfacing
  • Outbound data generation
  • API integration
  • ETL development

Job Responsibilities:

Team

  • Work as part of the Integration and Data Conversion team for the GL transformation project
  • Operate productively in a globally dispersed team through project into run
  • Maintain strong communication between team members

 

Function

  • Align development with integration and data migration architecture
  • Leverage Capabilities of GL platform to deliver best integration solution
  • Ensure deliverables make best use of platform toolsets available
  • Act as escalation and arbiter for outstanding integration issues

 

Stakeholders

  • Work closely with the selected technology vendor and system integration partner to manage deliverables to plan
  • Work closely with other technology program streams to ensure consistent delivery
  • Work with other technology manager responsible for data provision and consumption to / from GL platform
  • Work closely with the wider FMG program through SDLC including design, build test and deploy

 

 

Essential Requirements:

  • At least 8-10 years professional experience in integration development
  • Demonstrated experience working in integration of a complex environment
  • Strong SQL skills (writing, debugging and tuning complex SQL)
  • Proven experience in ETL development
  • Proven experience in file based integration
  • Knowledgeable of API integrations (SOAP & REST)
  • Proven experience delivering complex development tasks within agreed timelines through AGILE/WATERFALL methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Able to own and deliver tasks end to end (inception to delivery) working both independently or as part of a team.

 

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience within the financial services industry with an understanding of accounting fundamentals
  • Experience with DataStage ETL
  • Experience with star schema databases
  • Experience in SaaS & PaaS solutions (Oracle preferred)
  • Experience with data conversion and reconciliation
