This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded and dynamic Workplace Health Safety & Environment (WHSE) Manager / Director to lead our Asia Pacific region which will include our business units in Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Travel up to 50% across region including regular residency in Australia (1-2 weeks every other month).

As an experienced regional director, you will review, enhance and maintain Macquarie Capital’s Regional Workplace Health & Safety Environment (WHSE) framework. You will recognize the importance and value of WHSE by embedding it across our business and asset globally.

You will develop a comprehensive and global WHSE education program for asset managers and nominee directors, leveraging external firms and expertise. You will also develop a Macquarie Capital WHSE Centre of Expertise, and work closely with deal teams to provide expert advice on WHSE matters for new transactions and ongoing asset management. By establishing appropriate business forums at the industry, you will share WHSE related learnings. The role will offer you the opportunity to establish and maintain relationships with external legal and technical firms that provide WHSE related advice and services.

Reporting directly to our Global Head of WHSE, you will be based in Singapore with a significant amount of domestic and/or international travel to define scope of external WHSE due-diligence engagements and to assist deal teams with reviewing the results and translating recommendations into action plans. You will work with asset managers and the management of non-financial assets to implement WHSE action plans where appropriate. In addition, you will establish WHSE key performance indicators, related reporting, monitoring processes and maintain Macquarie Capital’s WHSE risk assessment. You will stay up to date on key global and regulatory developments regarding WHSE and strive to ensure that Macquarie Capital is keeping pace with requirements and best practice and co-ordinate Macquarie Capital WHSE reporting for the Board.

To be successful in this role, you will possess a minimum of 14 years’ experience as a WHS&E professional in either an internal or external advisory capacity or as part of a broader operations role, with exposure to infrastructure/renewables/resources and know local and/or regional HSE regulations. You hold appropriate tertiary qualifications in WHSE or related discipline (i.e. engineering) and demonstrate strong strategic, technical and multi-national WHS&E expertise supported by appropriate tertiary qualifications and have at least 5 years of field experience working in construction safety oversight capacity. You possess a proven ability to succeed in a complex stakeholder environment, with strong relationship building and influencing skills and the ability to drive chan. Your asset management and Board experience will be highly regarded.
