Seeking an Investment Analyst to join our team in Sydney

Leverage your passion for new technology and help our business grow our technology investment portfolio.

You will join Macquarie Capital’s Venture Capital Group, which is a global venture capital team investing in high growth internet and software companies across Australia, Europe and Asia. The VC team is recruiting for a 1st / 2nd year Analyst.

You will have the opportunity to work with a range of software and internet entrepreneurs and businesses across Australia, Europe and Asia. You will work closely with the team to help us identify and assess global technology investment opportunities as well as manage our existing portfolio of investments.

Your specific responsibilities in this role will include:

  • deep dive research on major investment and technology trends and companies harnessing these trends
  • involvement in due diligence processes on new investment opportunities
  • monitoring and reporting on our current portfolio companies.

You will need to bring a genuine passion for new technology, coupled with an interest in investing and an ability to form and communicate your opinions.

We are a team of investment professionals based in Sydney, Berlin and Beijing. Our approach is to actively participate in the strategic development of our portfolio companies and to involve ourselves as partners to entrepreneurs. The team is headed by partners with decades of global experience as investors and operators in software and internet businesses.

We invest in businesses across a broad range of industries including cybersecurity, data, marketplaces and fintech.

Essential skills and experience for this role include:

  • 1–2 years of experience as an analyst within an investment bank or in a corporate finance environment
  • an ability to demonstrate your interest in technology and investing
  • outstanding research, analytical and technical skills
  • advanced proficiency in financial modelling, valuation and return analyses.
