Commodities and Global Markets provides clients with an integrated, end-to-end offering across global markets including equities, fixed income, foreign exchange and commodities.
We’re looking to hire a highly technical individual as an Analyst into our Commodity Investor Products Sales team (within CMF) in New York. Our desk trades with pension funds, asset managers, hedge funds, insurance companies and other institutional clients. The desk is focused on growing its customer franchise and delivering derivative solutions to clients.
As an Analyst you will have the opportunity to provide production and transaction expertise for a range of clients in the commodities industry. This includes creating and providing regular and ad hoc market commentary for both clients and the sales desk, analyzing proprietary desk processes (booking, recapping, and valuations) to find ways to automate, improve, and streamline them. You will be given autonomy to identify potential clients, and make contact with them to determine their needs, present information, and explain available products and services. Your role also will involve recording transactions and keeping clients informed about transactions, customizing commodity implementation via swaps and options, monitor client preferences to determine the focus of sales and marketing efforts and resolving client complaints, collaborating with other internal team as appropriate to ensure successful implementation of chosen problem solutions.
As you spend more time in the role you will build up a upon highly specialized knowledge of commodities markets and complex financial products, including over-the-counter (“OTC”) derivatives, as well as Macquarie’s proprietary marketing, sales, and trading approaches, policies, strategies, and systems, including its proprietary risk control framework.
Required skills and qualifications:
- 0-2 years of experience in banking/finance
- experience with derivative transactions and/or equity investments would be a plus
- an undergraduate honours business degree (or similar) with a focus on finance
- a track record of superior academic achievement and high performance on the job
- strong research, financial modelling, analytical and valuation skills
- strong interpersonal skills and business relationship skills
- the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- proficiency in multiple languages would be a plus
- a professional designation (or working towards one) would be a plus.
