OPERATIONAL RISK ANALYST - Executive

We have an exciting opportunity for an Operational Risk Executive to join the team in Manila. In this role, Macquarie defines Operational Risk as the risk of loss resulting from failed or inadequate internal processes, people and systems or from external events. The principal objectives will be to: Ensure Operational Risk is appropriately addressed and managed within Human Resources and Business Management in line with Macquarie’s Operational Risk Management framework and associated policies, and facilitate the continued improvement in operational risk awareness and culture within Human Resources and Business Services.
Primary responsibilities are: Internal role - working closely with BORM globally and HR & BSD regionally, and working with the other Macquarie Groups / Divisions including: COG, IT and Risk Management Group (Operational Risk, Compliance and Internal Audit). Key responsibilities are:
Ongoing Operational Risk Management as it relates BSD & HR:
- Execution and monitoring of risk management practices, operational issues and control breakdowns in BSD & HR,
- Collation, analysis and reporting of a variety risk information on a routine and exception basis for BSD & HR globally and review and implement Group-wide and Divisional policies and procedures.
Key elements of the framework to support:
- Facilitate Operational Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA)
- Assurance of the critical controls in BSD & HR
- Incident Reporting including investigation, recording, reporting and analysis, action management and escalation
- Conducting operational risk workshops and training
- Liaising with internal and external audit as well as reviewing new business approvals and proposals.
We would like to hear from you if you have proven experience in an operational risk management, internal audit or Financial Markets Operations capacity, ideally gained within a financial services / investment banking environment. You understand and comfortable operating in a segregated support area, be numerate, able to problem solve and drive issues through to completion, display a professional work approach. You can work independently, be highly visible and provide transparency of process to clients and the team. You are able to own and drive initiatives at a regional level and able to get into the detail.
We are interested if you have the ability to exercise initiative and be able to follow through on issues with minimal supervision, and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks. Moreover, we're happy to meet you if you possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and display initiative to lead discussions with operational staff, business leaders and risk management colleagues, independence of mind and ability to escalate issues where appropriate, ability to work closely with peers/ senior management and ability to manage/ execute tasks within set timeframes. In addition, knowledge of control processes and best practice in relevant controls, ability to independently analyze processes/ issues, ability to write/ present clear and concise reports, ability to identify, analyze risks and develop effective and efficient strategies to manage risks and ability to prioritize and manage multiple and competing deadlines are the key elements to move forward for this role.
We need you to have a university degree in an accounting, finance or related discipline and relevant postgraduate qualifications will also be highly regarded, over 4 years’ experience in either a risk or operational role, Strong independent control focus, Credible, Reliable, Self-Motivated and Achievement / results orientated.
