Corporate Operations Group (COG) provides specialist professional services, human resources, workplace infrastructure, technology and market operations to Macquarie's businesses. The primary purpose of COG is to support and enhance the value of Macquarie through the creation of an efficient, scalable operating model. This is evident across the activities of each of the divisions which comprises of Business Improvement and Strategy Division (BIS), Business Services Division (BSD), COG Business Management, Human Resources Division (HR), Market Operations, Operational Risk Strategy and Support, Shared Services and Technology.

We are looking for a highly motivated HR specialist to serve as a subject matter expert in Compensation and Benefits, with Asia wide remit, to be based in Hong Kong and reporting to the Asia Regional Head of Human Resources with dotted line reporting to the Global Head of Reward.


  • Manage an Associate within the Asia Reward Centre of Expertise (COE). 
  • Participate in regional and global reward initiatives as part of the wider Global Reward COE team
  • Liaise with Global Reward team to provide regional input and insights into reward matters, including market trends and data, competitive practice and regulatory developments
  • Regional subject matter expert on remuneration and equity policies, plans, regulatory requirements related to remuneration and, corporate governance of remuneration
  • Advise on appropriate reward structures for employees
  • Consultation with management and staff on company remuneration policies and plans
  • Manage Asia remuneration operations including annual remuneration review process and maintain employment cost database
  • Provide advice and guidance through use of data analysis, modelling and interpretation
  • Oversee all benefit policies and renewal of benefit (including insurance) plans within Asia region
  • Drive the development of the ‘Macquarie Plus’ brand concerning wellness benefits for the region
  • Manage external vendor (brokers & insurers & benefit providers) service level
  • Work with the external employee benefits broker to ensure plan design follows current benefits strategy and recommend benefit plan design changes during annual renewal process in order to address market competitiveness, statutory minimum and legal requirements whilst also factoring in cost and precedent
  • Oversee implementation of the global Macquarie Awards Program within region directing Asia Incentive Committee meetings
  • Work to support the global D&I agenda in relation to reward related items in Asia
  • Project work (e.g. new systems implementation, involvement in M&A transaction due diligence)
  • Assist in ad hoc management reporting and analysis

The successful candidate must have drive, be self-motivated and be able to demonstrate prior effectiveness in a highly-matrixed, international environment.  He/she will be a team player with the ability to multi-task and will have: 

  • Seasoned experience in a regional Compensation and Benefits role, ideally in investment banking or professional services and an entrepreneurial, high growth, international business
  • A pragmatic approach, flexibility and delivery focused mindset
  • Strong spreadsheet, analytical and numerical reasoning skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse stakeholder group
  • Degree-level educated, with business or other relevant tertiary/professional qualifications
